In his New Year’s message he shared on Instagram, Brian May revealed the advice he would give to his younger self.
The Queen guitarist included a younger photo of himself in his post and wrote the following:
“It’s a funny old time between Christmas and New Year, ain’t it? Bri X (Thank you to the brilliant Sarah Rugg for capturing my mood so perfectly). I’m wondering what advice I’d give to this younger me if I had the chance. Take care out there. Keep yer powder dry!”
A Tribute To A Lost Friend

This year, May had both sad and proud moments. He sadly lost his long-time friend and driver, Phil Webb, to a heart attack. May shared his grief and respect for Webb on Instagram, saying:
“This is one of the saddest days of my life. Last night, we lost Phil Webb to a heart attack. Phil, my dedicated driver for over 30 years, was my family’s dearest friend and protector and the kindest and most decent man I have ever had the pleasure to meet.”
His message to his late friend continued:
“We are all devastated and join with Phil’s wife and son in grieving for the last man on Earth to deserve this much too early passing away. Bless you, dear Phil – we all love you. We’re proud of the life you led and forever grateful for everything you gave us – more than any words could ever describe.”
A Royal Honor

In happier news, the rocker was made a knight by King Charles III and is now called Sir Brian. He got this title for his work in music and charity, and he shared his happiness on Instagram. He also remembered playing music on the roof of Buckingham Palace for a special event, which he loved but joked he wouldn’t do again.
Additionally, May teased a new documentary project with Tony Iommi, exploring guitar riffs, and hinted at potential new music with Queen and Adam Lambert, expressing optimism about future collaborations despite their busy lives.
