“Much loved husband, father, brother, bandmate, and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness. The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time.”

Mark Sheehan was born on October 29, 1976, in Dublin, Ireland, and had a passion for music from a young age. He began his career as a member of the band Mytown, alongside the Script’s frontman Danny O’Donoghue, from 1996 to 2001. The Script was formed in 2001 with Sheehan as the guitarist, O’Donoghue as the singer-songwriter, and Glen Power as the drummer.

The band achieved success in both Ireland and the UK, with their debut single, ‘We Cry,’ reaching the number one spot in both countries. After their self-titled debut record, the subsequent albums, ‘Science & Faith,’ ‘#3,’ and ‘No Sound Without Silence,’ continued to top charts around the world.

Throughout their career, the Script has been known for their heartfelt writing, including the song ‘If You Could See Me Now,’ which addresses the loss of O’Donoghue’s father and both of Sheehan’s parents. In recent times, fans had noticed Sheehan taking a break from the stage, missing the US leg of the band’s 2022 tour. O’Donoghue had said that Sheehan was spending time with his family, emphasizing the band’s strong bond and support for one another.

Mark Sheehan’s untimely passing leaves a void in the music world, particularly for fans of the Script. His talent, kindness, and legacy will live on through his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched with his music. Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this tragic time.
