Phil X Responds To Bad Blood Rumors With Richie Sambora

Phil X addressed potential tensions with Richie Sambora in a recent interview with Guitar World.

“Man, we [Richie Sambora and I] were buds before and after,” Phil X said about his relationship with Sambora. “It was really cool. It was a really amazing day.”

“Sometimes, I had to sit back and go, ‘Holy sh*t. Is this really happening?'” he continued, reflecting on their recent performance together.

The two guitarists shared the stage to perform Bon Jovi’s classic hit ‘Livin’ on a Prayer.’ This performance effectively put to rest any speculation about bad blood between them.

Their recent collaboration highlighted a significant moment in Bon Jovi’s guitar legacy. It brought together two important eras of the band’s history.

Metalhead Zone reported that the performance took place at the Rock For Responders LA wildfire benefit concert on February 27, 2025. Sambora handled lead vocal and guitar duties while Phil X delivered a supporting role.

WDHA FM revealed Phil X’s journey with Bon Jovi started in 2011. He initially served as Sambora’s temporary replacement during live performances.

Guitar Player documented the connection between the two guitarists spans over a decade. Phil X officially became the band’s permanent lead guitarist in 2016, three years after Sambora’s departure.
