Richie Sambora recently issued an apology to Jon Bon Jovi following controversial comments he made about his former bandmate’s throat issues and his solo career struggles, as reported on Twitter.

The apology addressed reactions to Sambora’s previous statements, where he had made comments about Jon Bon Jovi’s throat problems while discussing how Jon and Bon Jovi management allegedly tried to sabotage his solo career.

“I reacted wrongly, and never should have said the throat comment. I sincerely apologize, and it’s very uncharacteristic of who I am. Deeply sorry,” Sambora said.

The former Bon Jovi guitarist also clarified his position regarding his solo career challenges.

“And as far as the people still don’t know I can sing, produce, etc., comment, I really still walk into meetings, and executives, producers go ‘is that you singing?’…not whining or complaining. It’s just surprising and funny after my track record. I had fun chatting with my fans. It cheered me up,” he continued.

This apology came after Sambora’s earlier controversial statement, where he claimed that “Jon and corporate killed my records to get me back to the mother ship” and expressed frustration that most Bon Jovi fans didn’t give his solo work a fair chance.

The current tension between the two musicians stems from a complicated history that dates back over a decade. El País reported that Sambora left the band abruptly in 2013 via text message, citing personal matters amid emotional and substance abuse issues as a single dad. This strained their once-close friendship.

The departure marked the end of a 30-year partnership that had defined Bon Jovi’s sound since 1983. Eddie Trunk noted that their relationship remains distant, with Jon Bon Jovi confirming no contact for over a decade. Both appeared separately in the 2024 docuseries Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.

The rift has persisted despite various attempts at reconciliation from fans and industry insiders. Sambora later expressed regret about his departure, saying “I probably should have talked to Jon. I should’ve explained it better,” amid feelings of being creatively sidelined within the band structure.

The ongoing silence between the two rock legends highlights how personal and professional conflicts can permanently alter relationships, even after decades of successful collaboration. Their story serves as a reminder of the complex dynamics that exist behind the scenes of some of music’s most celebrated partnerships.
