In a recent interview with Loudwire, Satchel discussed various topics, including influential guitarists in the music industry. The Steel Panther member claimed that AC/DC’s Malcolm Young did not get enough credit in this regard.
AC/DC’s late guitarist undoubtedly influenced the rock world with his musical abilities and inspired many musicians that came after him. According to his recent interview, one of these seems to be Steel Panther‘s lead guitarist, Satchel.
While talking about the most influential albums from his teenage years, the musician stated that ‘Malcolm Young was probably the most influential guitar player in rock.’ Despite his effect, which, to him, was greater than that of Eddie Van Halen and Eric Clapton, Satchel believes Young does not receive the recognition he deserves.
In the interview, he started by saying:
“Not enough guitar players talk about Malcolm Young. I’m gonna go out on a limb here. [Actually] I don’t think it’s a limb I’m going on, but I’m gonna say this: Malcolm Young was probably the most influential guitar player in rock. If not, in guitar [music, in general].”
Then, he added to his claim as follows:
“[He] probably influenced more people as a guitar player than Eddie Van Halen. I’m saying this: more than Eddie Van Halen, Robert Johnson, Eric Clapton, and any guitar player, because think about all the bands that have come after AC/DC that have tried to write AC/DC-sounding songs with three chords.”
Satchel thinks AC/DC’s Malcolm Young deserves more recognition since he considers the late guitarist as the most influential figure in the field of guitar playing. Steel Panther guitarist expects people to acknowledge his effect on the music industry more.
