“An update from Rogers Stadium: Following a thorough assessment of Rogers Stadium after last week’s extreme weather event, the upcoming AC/DC concert has been cancelled due to severe damage to portions of the venue.”
The cancellation raised questions about how ticket holders would be compensated. The statement outlined the refund process for both original and resale ticket purchases.
“All original ticket purchases for the cancelled AC/DC concert at Rogers Stadium will be automatically refunded in full through Ticketmaster. Fans who purchased resale tickets should contact their point of sale for refund information.”
The events leading up to the cancellation paint a clearer picture of just how severe the damage was.
The storm that struck the stadium hit Toronto on Wednesday, September 2. It was a “100-year” storm bringing heavy rain and winds reaching 80 mph. The damage was concentrated in the venue’s north seating area, where sections of the grandstand buckled and collapsed. Rows of blue seats were left twisted and flipped. Fencing was displaced, and structural components were fractured.
In the days following the storm, the city of Toronto took formal action. Officials issued an “order to remedy an unsafe building” to Live Nation Canada, the operator of Rogers Stadium, requiring the company to secure the damaged sections, hire a professional engineer, and complete necessary repairs. That order came nearly two weeks before the scheduled AC/DC show. It underscored how quickly the situation had escalated from a weather event to a structural safety concern.
The September 16 date carried extra significance for the venue. It was set to be the final show of AC/DC’s 2026 stadium run. Rogers Stadium and Live Nation Canada did not push forward with repairs in time for the concert. They determined the venue could not safely host the event and opted for cancellation rather than a postponement or rescheduling.
