At a recent press conference in Cannes, Johnny Depp spoke about his legal issues with ex-wife Amber Heard. The gathering offered the Hollywood Vampires guitarist an opportunity to discuss the effects of these personal problems on his acting career.

The conference was organized for ‘Jeanne du Barry,’ Depp’s latest project and first leading role following the legal dispute with Heard. Throughout the event, the actor made statements about his time away from Hollywood, revealing his complex emotions toward the industry.

When asked if he felt pushed out by Hollywood, Depp referred to his forced departures from several projects during the lawsuit. His responses also reflected his apathy towards the industry, indicating a shift in his perspective since the legal struggle.

The actor explained his view by saying:

“Did I feel boycotted by Hollywood? You’d have to not have a pulse to feel like, ‘No. None of this is happening. It’s a weird joke.’ When you’re asked to resign from a film you’re doing because of something that is merely a function of vowels and consonants floating in the air, yes, you feel boycotted.

I don’t feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don’t think about Hollywood. It’s a strange, funny time where everybody would love to be able to be themselves, but they can’t. They must fall in line with the person in front of them. If you want to live that life, I wish you the best.”

Although the controversial lawsuit impacted his career as an actor, Johnny Depp got the opportunity to focus on his music career and started touring with the late Jeff Beck. The actor now seems eager to return to the screens, and time will tell whether he’ll also continue his career on the rock stage.
