The connection between music and cinema is evident, and Johnny Depp has excelled in both. The actor released a joint studio album, ‘18,’ with none other than Jeff Beck, and the pair recently joined SiriusXM to discuss the record. However, it seems like the album’s creative process wasn’t that easy, as Beck disclosed Depp’s reluctance to make a blues album.

“I made the mistake of saying, ‘Do you want to do a blues album?’” Jeff joked as he recalled how Johnny had turned down his initial offer. “He went, ‘No. No, anything but blues.’”

In response to why he was hesitant to do a blues album, the famous actor said that he didn’t consider the genre original enough. Depp said, “What am I going to do with the blues, man? [It’s not like] somebody else hadn’t done.”

“It was a metaphor for a lot wider genre type,” Beck continued and disclosed what he had meant. “This is just a saying, ‘Do you want to make a blues album?’ He took it the wrong way.”

Even though there were initially creative differences, the duo worked it out and released their record, ‘18’ in July. Beck and Depp are currently on tour, performing all across the United States. The rocker has been on the road since October 1 and Johnny joined him later. The tour’s next show is set to take place in Arizona on November 1.
