Jay Weinberg recently sat down with Paul Cashmere of Australia’s Noise11.com for an interview and shared his indifference toward the public’s reaction to his departure from Slipknot, emphasizing his focus on the future with Suicidal Tendencies.

The drummer discussed the media frenzy surrounding his exit from Slipknot, describing his lack of concern for the ‘tabloid’ coverage, saying:

“I kind of honestly just — I don’t really pay attention to stuff like that. Whatever chatter there is around the world is kind of not really any of my concern. I just kind of do what I do. If people wanna talk about it, then that’s fine by me. I’m just honored and excited that it’s led me to this point and getting started with Suicidal.”

The Departure From Slipknot

Slipknot announced via their official website in early November that they had parted ways with Weinberg due to creative differences. The musician later shared a statement expressing his shock and sadness over the split, highlighting the connections he had made with fans over the years. He reflected:

“This is not the ending to the journey I’d dreamt of and committed myself to seeing through — not by a long shot. But, despite the confusion and sadness, there is something that’s provided an equal amount of comfort. For many of you reading this: 10 years ago, we weren’t yet acquainted. And now, we are. For that, I’m thankful in ways I’ll never be able to fully express.”

Fan Reaction And New Beginnings

The news of Weinberg’s departure from Slipknot stirred considerable reaction among fans and the music community. Amidst the discussions, the rocker recently took to Instagram to express his enthusiasm about joining Suicidal Tendencies, a band he has long admired and respected. He stated:

“It’s an absolute honor and privilege to play with Suicidal Tendencies, and I can’t wait to start this incredibly exciting new chapter in just one week! See you all in the pit!”

Weinberg is set to make his live debut with Suicidal Tendencies during a two-date stint in Japan, followed by performances at the No Values festival in California and several European festival dates.
