Fieldy recently shared an emotional post about receiving an unexpected gift from his former Korn bandmate Brian ‘Head’ Welch, sparking speculation about potential communication between the estranged band members. The post was shared on Instagram.

Fieldy and his son Israel received an Ibanez guitar as a gift. This prompted a heartfelt response from the bassist who had previously revealed he hadn’t spoken to his former bandmates in years.

“Thank you, Brian Welch. Very unexpected gift for my son and I,” Fieldy wrote in the caption of his post.

This gesture appears particularly significant given Fieldy’s previous comments about his relationship with his former Korn bandmates.

“I haven’t talked to those guys since 2019. So it’s like we’re just kind of both…. They’re truckin’. They’re a machine. They’re going. It’s insane. It’s dope that they can keep on going like that,” he had previously stated.

The unexpected gift from Welch suggests that communication channels between the former bandmates may be reopening after years of silence.

This development comes at a time when Fieldy’s relationship with Korn remains uncertain, following his departure from the band in 2021. Loudwire reported that Fieldy announced his hiatus from Korn citing personal issues over the prior six years that led to “bad habits” and tension with bandmates, prompting him to step away to heal and avoid “bad vibes.”

Ra Diaz has handled live bass duties for the band since Fieldy’s departure. Fieldy has not returned to active touring or recording with Korn. Metal Injection noted that the bassist was replaced by Ra Diaz in a live setting and hasn’t returned to the band since stepping down.

In a rare public appearance, Fieldy was spotted with Korn drummer Ray Luzier at NAMM in January 2026. This sighting appeared to be casual rather than indicative of any formal reconciliation with the band. Despite this public interaction, Fieldy confirmed that he has maintained no communication with his bandmates since 2019.

Fieldy made his first detailed public comments in five years during an April 2026 interview. He clarified his current stance on his relationship with Korn. Loudwire reported that he expressed contentment after 30 years with the band, likening his situation to retiring as a “veteran,” while stating he considers himself “retired from Korn today, but we’ll see what the day brings tomorrow.”

The timing of Welch’s gesture is particularly noteworthy given this context. It represents the first known positive interaction between Fieldy and any Korn member since his departure, potentially opening the door for future reconciliation within the band that helped define nu-metal in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
