Former Ozzy Osbourne and David Lee Roth guitarist Joe Holmes has released a new self-titled solo album, as reported via his Instagram. The record features Holmes on guitar, Robert Locke on vocals, and two of Holmes’s former Ozzy Osbourne bandmates — bassist Rob Trujillo, now of Metallica, and drummer Mike Bordin, also known for his work with Faith No More.
Holmes took to social media to share the news of the album’s release with his followers.
“New album out today! Available for purchase digitally and on CD, on all streaming platforms, and for preorder for vinyl worldwide!” Holmes said. “Thank you for all the support and for checking out the music!”
The self-titled album marks a notable reunion of sorts, bringing together musicians who share a history from their time in Ozzy Osbourne’s band. The record is currently available digitally, on CD, and across all major streaming platforms, with a vinyl preorder also open worldwide.
The release is a significant moment for Holmes, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight since his years as a touring and recording guitarist for some of rock’s biggest names. The album brings together a lineup with deep roots in hard rock and heavy metal. Its arrival has drawn attention from fans who remember the chemistry Holmes shared with Trujillo and Bordin during their Ozzy years.
Holmes first rose to prominence when he joined Ozzy Osbourne’s band in the mid-1990s, replacing Zakk Wylde. He appeared on Osbourne’s 1995 album Ozzmosis and toured extensively with the Prince of Darkness, cementing his reputation as a technically gifted and versatile guitarist. His tenure with Osbourne helped establish him as a respected figure in the hard rock world.
Rob Trujillo, who plays bass on the new album, is best known for his long-standing role in Metallica, which he joined in 2003. Before that, however, Trujillo was a key member of Ozzy Osbourne’s band throughout the 1990s, making his collaboration with Holmes on this project a genuine reunion of former bandmates. He has also been recognized for his earlier work with Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves.
Mike Bordin, who handles drum duties on the record, has been the backbone of Faith No More since the band’s formation in the early 1980s. Like Trujillo, Bordin also served as Ozzy Osbourne’s drummer during the same era. His powerful and distinctive drumming style has long been considered one of his defining traits across both Faith No More and his session work.
