Ex-Mickey Ratt Guitarist Chris Hager Dies At 67, Stephen Pearcy Issues Statement

Former Mickey Ratt and RATT guitarist Chris Hager has died at age 67. Former bandmate Stephen Pearcy shared the news in a statement on Instagram.

Pearcy and Hager co-founded Mickey Ratt in 1977. The former bandmate shared a heartfelt tribute about their long musical partnership and recent collaborations.

“This morning I’m very saddened to hear about the passing of our dear friend, guitarist and musician Christopher (Chris) Hager,” Pearcy said. “Chris and I started Mickey Ratt together in San Diego 1977 and in moving to L.A. actually created the band RATT in 1981.”

Pearcy reflected on Hager’s continued musical endeavors after RATT.

“Chris was an amazing person, a great guitarist, songwriter and so committed to being just that. He went on to create a few projects over the years with Sarge, Rough Cutt, Woop and the Count and our solo project Pearcy/Hager,” he continued. “We were actually working on new songs recently, and they will be heard.”

The family has requested privacy during this time. “I’m at loss my friend, we’ve been through a lot together. God bless you brother. As of this time the family would respect privacy,” Pearcy stated.

Hager’s influence in the rock music scene extended beyond his initial work with RATT. His career spanned several successful musical ventures.
