Yungblud recently revealed his stance on joining a band. He explained why he’s strictly against the idea in an interview with Rolling Stone.

The artist was candid about his creative process and why collaboration doesn’t work for him personally.

“No! F*ck no. I am not made to compromise,” Yungblud said. “In the past, when I’ve listened to opinions and almost met someone in the middle, my art’s been shit.”

He acknowledged that collaboration works for some artists but emphasized it’s not his path.

“Watching Steven Tyler and Joe Perry together, the compromise is the f*cking magic,” he continued. “But for me, it doesn’t work. It just makes me mad. People don’t realize I’m in control of everything. One of the biggest misconceptions about me is that I had everything handed to me by the industry. The industry has told me to f*ck myself at every single turn.”

The statement addresses common misconceptions about his career. It reinforces his commitment to maintaining creative control over his work.

Yungblud has shown he’s not entirely opposed to strategic collaborations when they align with his artistic vision. This is despite his strong stance against joining bands.

Guitar World reported that Yungblud recently teamed up with Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and Steven Tyler to deliver a controversial tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the VMAs. The collaboration began when the trio worked on three songs that excited the legendary rockers enough to develop into a full EP project.

The partnership with Aerosmith proved commercially successful. Screen Rant noted that their EP One More Time debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart. This achievement demonstrates that Yungblud maintains his independence as a solo artist. He can still create impactful music through carefully chosen collaborations.

More recently, uDiscover Music revealed that Yungblud has collaborated with The Smashing Pumpkins for a new rendition of his Grammy-nominated track “Zombie.” This latest partnership shows his continued willingness to work with established artists when the creative chemistry feels right.

These selective collaborations highlight the distinction Yungblud makes between joining a permanent band structure and working with other artists on specific projects. He refuses to compromise his artistic vision within a traditional band framework. However, he remains open to partnerships that enhance rather than dilute his creative output.
