Tyler’s death marks the end of a remarkable career that spanned nearly five decades. She left an indelible mark on popular music, with her raspy, powerful voice becoming one of the most recognizable sounds of the 1970s and 1980s.

Her rise to international fame began with It’s a Heartache, released in 1978. The song climbed to No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and established her as a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the Atlantic.

Her greatest commercial triumph came in 1983 with Total Eclipse of the Heart. The sweeping power ballad reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the defining songs of the decade. Together, It’s a Heartache and Total Eclipse of the Heart sold a combined 14 million copies worldwide, cementing her place among the best-selling artists of her era.

Tyler remained active in music well into her later years. Her final studio album, The Best Is Yet To Come, was released in 2021 to positive reviews. It featured a mix of covers and original songs that showcased the enduring warmth and character of her voice, standing as a fitting final chapter to a career built on passion and perseverance.
