British musician Yungblud was forced to cancel his Philadelphia concert due to illness. He announced the disappointing news to fans via Instagram.
The artist explained his condition and outlined plans for rescheduling the show while offering a unique gesture to ticket holders.
“Philly, I’m gutted to have to do this but I need to reschedule the show tonight,” Yungblud said. “I’ve been trying to get better for two days since New York but I literally can’t get off the floor and doctors have advised me that I have a virus that requires me to rest and take it seriously.”
He provided details about the rescheduled performance and compensation for disappointed fans.
“We will be rescheduling and moving the show to The Met Philadelphia on a date in the very near future,” he continued. “If you had tickets please check your emails later today for more information.”
Yungblud offered free drinks to ticket holders at a local venue as an apology gesture.
“To apologize and to celebrate My Only Angel coming out tonight, I’ve put some money behind the bar,” he said. “If you have a ticket and still wanna hang out, go to Johnny Brenda’s and say My Only Angel to the bar tenders to get a beer on me. I love you all.”
The cancellation comes at a significant moment in Yungblud’s career. He continues to build momentum from recent high-profile collaborations and performances.
The timing of the illness is particularly unfortunate given Yungblud’s recent collaboration with rock legends Aerosmith. The Rock Revival reported that the two artists recently confirmed a new collaborative EP titled “One More Time.” The five-song EP will be released on November 21 through Capitol Records. It includes new tracks plus a fresh version of Aerosmith’s classic “Back in the Saddle.”
This collaboration stems from their recent joint performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, where they delivered a memorable tribute performance. The Rock Revival noted that Yungblud performed alongside Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Black Sabbath’s Adam Wakeman at UBS Arena in Long Island, New York. The performance took place at the same venue where Aerosmith played their final show before cancelling the remainder of their Peace Out World Tour.
The Philadelphia show cancellation represents a venue change as well as a postponement. Alt 104.5 Philly confirmed that the original show was scheduled to take place at The Fillmore Philadelphia. The rescheduled performance will now be held at The Met Philadelphia instead.
Despite the setback, Yungblud’s gesture of providing free drinks at Johnny Brenda’s demonstrates his commitment to maintaining a connection with his fanbase. The release of “My Only Angel” coinciding with the cancellation provides fans with new content while they wait for the rescheduled show date to be announced.
