The Deepest Trauma Of Nikki Sixx’s Tragic Life

Nikki Sixx spent his younger years growing his interest in music before being one of the founders of Mötley Crüe and delivering his bass skills to the world. The musician who had developed his musical taste listening to bands such as Deep Purple, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones, put the first building blocks of his successful appearance in the rock scene after being accepted for his first band, Sister.

He had a challenging childhood before his remarkable musical journey, which he enthusiastically started. As a teenager, he fronted to vandalism, broke into the neighborhood’s home, and shoplifted. At that time, he acted rebelliously in his school life, so much so that he was expelled for selling drugs. In fact, all these rebellious acts were based on tragic experiences that he could not get over whatever he did. At a very young age, he was abandoned by his parents, which was a traumatic incident that dramatically affected his life.

Nikki Sixx’s Parents Abandoned Him

While Nikki Sixx was a little child, his father left the family, and he started to be grown up by his single mother, Deana Richards, and his grandparents. Later, the bassist, who had already faced the difficulties of growing up without a father figure while a small kid, went through another traumatic experience when his mother also abandoned him. Then he began to live with his grandparents, changing locations several times.

Mötley Crüe icon revealed during a 2017 interview with Neon Sunsets that being left by his father at the age of 3 and his mother at 6 was his most profound trauma that still remained in his conscious. As he mentioned, he could not get over the terrible feeling of being abandoned no matter how many years had passed.

According to the musician, such incidents experienced in childhood were the issues that always maintained their presence in a person; moreover, they almost penetrated DNA. He stated that no matter how much therapy a person received or realized that the issue was not related to themselves, the experience of abandonment remained within and haunted them for the rest of their lives.

The bassist said the following about his traumatic experience:

“In my deepest, deepest core, the thing that’s haunted me the most and still haunts me is the feeling of abandonment – my dad leaving when I was young and my mom leaving, one at 3, one at 6. I never quite got over that; it’s a horrible feeling. It always comes back to these childhood issues; you still carry them with you. They’re like in your DNA. I don’t care how much therapy you got, how much you realized it wasn’t about you; it’s still inside; it bothers you.”

Nikki Sixx has talked about dealing with this experience several times, pointing out that he tried to be evolved into a new person. Previously, he indicated that he had spent more money on therapy than other rockers paid for cars and wanted to overcome his anger issues and become a good father figure for his kids.
