The four-day Welcome To Rockville event, including headliners Slipknot, Tool, Avenged Sevenfold, and Pantera, kicked off on Saturday. While the shows were going strong, Alter Bridge announced the cancel their performance due on the festival’s third day.
Alter Bridge was slated to perform during the four-day event on May 20. However, according to the post on the festival’s Twitter page, the band announced the cancellation of its appearance on day 3 of the festival due to the health issues of its leader, Myles Kennedy. According to the statement by the band, the cancellation of the concert was caused by Kennedy’s respiratory infection, which affected his vocal abilities.
The band announced that they had canceled their concert on its official Facebook page, stating that:
“Due to the recent onset of a respiratory infection that is limiting the vocal abilities of Myles Kennedy, Alter Bridge regretfully have to cancel their performance at Welcome To Rockville today.
We are all looking forward to playing for you, but there is no way that we can give you the show that you all deserve in his current condition. We thank everyone for their understanding and can’t wait to perform for you in the future.”
Since the band recently announced a summer 2023 leg of their ‘Pawn & Kings’ tour, and the journey is due to begin on August 1, fans are waiting for word on the lead singer’s recovery.
