KISS frontman Paul Stanley shared his thoughts on David Lee Roth’s return performance at X.
“I watched Diamond Dave’s return at M3 Festival and LOVED IT!” Stanley said. “Looks Great. Great staging. Great band. Great vibe.”
“The whole thing was cool,” he continued. “Back-up posse too. Check it all out on YouTube. Welcome Back Dave!!”
David Lee Roth made his highly anticipated return to the stage at the M3 Festival. This performance marked his first live appearance following an extended break.
The comeback performance represented a significant milestone in Roth’s career after his lengthy hiatus from live shows.
American Songwriter reported that Roth’s previous public performance took place as KISS’ opening act in Lubbock, Texas, on March 10, 2020. This extended break made his return especially meaningful for fans.
The M3 Rock Festival at Maryland’s Merriweather Post Pavilion showcased an impressive lineup. Ultimate Classic Rock noted that Roth led a five-piece band and four male backing singers. They delivered a powerful 16-song set featuring Van Halen classics.
Roth opened the show with the iconic ‘Panama.’ He displayed his characteristic showmanship and humor throughout the performance. During the song’s breakdown, he quipped: “In the name of world peace, reach over and reach down between the legs of the person next to you.” This moment set an irreverent tone for his comeback performance.
Men’s Journal highlighted that the black leather-clad vocalist’s stage presence remained powerful. His entertainment value showed no signs of diminishing despite his five-year absence from public performances.
