Ted Nugent addressed the recent controversy in an interview with Eddie Trunk on Trunk Nation.
“We have so many conversations where a lot of people say ‘How come you’re going to play again? You said you were going to retire,'” Nugent said. “I have never used the ‘r word’ [retirement].”
“I have made it quite clear that I still crave to play,” he continued. “I’m still absolutely stimulated by the pursuit of musical guitar adventure.”
Nugent made headlines last year when he announced plans to discontinue extensive tours. Fans interpreted this announcement as a retirement decision. The rocker has now clarified his position amid criticism over his plans to return to performing.
The veteran rocker’s clarification arrives at a pivotal moment in his career. Reports from Ultimate Classic Rock reveal his plans to celebrate ‘Stranglehold’s’ 50th anniversary. The celebration will feature special concerts across Michigan and Texas in 2025.
Nugent is also expanding his digital presence for fans. He will launch the ‘Nuge Vault’ in March 2025. This digital platform will provide fans with unprecedented access to his musical archive.
The vault will showcase a collection of previously unreleased concert audio and video footage. These materials will offer fans an in-depth look into Nugent’s extensive musical career.
This new phase demonstrates Nugent’s ongoing dedication to performing. He has chosen to adapt his touring schedule to a more manageable format rather than completely leaving the stage.
