Nightwish singer Floor Jansen recently addressed the band’s future plans in a new interview with Sonic Seducer.

The conversation touched on Nightwish’s 2023 announcement that the band would step back from touring. Jansen clarified whether there is any activity planned for the near future.

“No, there’s nothing planned,” Jansen said. “That is the thing with Nightwish — we’re on a temporary hold. But there’s no communication about when something’s gonna happen.”

Jansen’s comments suggest that fans should not expect any immediate updates regarding new Nightwish activity. Further announcements may follow once the band decides on its next steps.

The hiatus itself dates back to June 2023, when band leader Tuomas Holopainen announced Nightwish would step away from touring indefinitely. The decision came right after the band abandoned what should have been the final show of its tour in Oslo. More than three years later, the situation remains largely unchanged. Fans are still waiting for any sign of movement.

The break has always been framed specifically around live performances rather than the band’s future as a whole. Nightwish made it clear before releasing 2024’s album “Yesterwynde” that they would not tour behind it. The band has maintained that stance ever since and has said it will not return to the stage until the next album cycle begins.

Whether or not that cycle is anywhere close remains uncertain. Much of the timeline appears to hinge on Holopainen himself. He was the one who requested the touring break in the first place, and he has not given any firm indication of when it might end, only reinforcing that there is currently nothing in the works.

In the meantime, Jansen has kept herself busy outside of Nightwish, pursuing solo projects while the band remains inactive on the road. Her recent statements paint a consistent picture: Nightwish has not disbanded. A genuine return to touring, however, does not appear to be on the immediate horizon.
