Scott Stapp believes SZA’s love for Creed made him the cool dad in his household.
Earlier with an interview with Variety, SZA defended Creed and shared her confusion as to why people hate the band so much. Now, in a recent interview with Revolver, Stapp recalled SZA’s defense of Creed against the haters and he even shared how much they meant to both him and his family:
“It definitely made me a cool dad in my house with my teenage daughter and teenage son. And so, I thought it was awesome. It just shows that music reaches some of the most unexpected fans at times. And, I think it shows that [Creed’s] music has connected with another generation.”
The Creed rocker then went on to appreciate SZA’s words about his band and her as a singer:
“I felt, in some regards, because of the accomplished and critically acclaimed artist that she is, I also felt honored and humbled that she was inspired and liked our music. That it connected with her. It means a lot when you hear another artist, especially one as talented as she is, comment on your work and express what she did. And so it felt good.”
SZA Doesn’t Understand The Hate For Creed

SZA earlier expressed her bewilderment regarding the criticism directed at Creed and disclosed her status as a big fan of the band.
In the interview with Variety, the singer discussed her favorite music and artists. When revealing additions to her playlists, the singer appeared to be confused when she was laughed at for choosing Creed.
As she stated during the interview, it’s not just her; according to SZA, black people also love Creed. When the interviewer jokingly acknowledged that ‘white people hate Creed and Nickelback,’ the singer once again expressed her confusion and added:
“Why? Black people love them! They rock! That sh*t is bomb! Why do you all hate it so much? That voice…”
When the interviewer mentioned that they were ‘kind of cliche,’ she continued:
“Okay, I don’t know if that’s where I was headed in the realm of ‘Yay, I was listening to Creed and Nickelback the other day in childhood nostalgia!’ But I like Creed so much — ‘Higher’? Why are you hating on it?”
The pop singer even enjoys showering with ‘Higher.’
