Amber Heard was recently in Sicily for the Taormina Film Festival for the world premiere of ‘In the Fire.’ Heard spoke to Deadline about her new movie and said he couldn’t control the case or the narrative surrounding Johnny Deep. She explained:

“I’m in control for the most part of what comes out of my mouth. What I’m not in control of is how my pride in this project and all we put into this film can be surrounded by clips of other stuff. That’s a big thing I had to learn, that I’m not in control of the stories other people create around me. That’s something that probably I’ll appreciate as a blessing further down the line.”

During the interview, Amber insisted she was at the festival to support a movie as the lead actress. She continued:

“Right now, I just want not to have, you know, stones thrown at me so much. So let’s get the elephant out of the room then, and just let me say that. I am an actress. I’m here to support a movie. And that’s not something I can be sued for.”

Since Amber mentioned being sued in her interview, it was reported by People this past June that the Virginia defamation case between Depp and Heard has officially wrapped up after a year. Johnny has officially received his $1 million settlement money which the Hollywood Vampires guitarist will give away to various charities.

Amidst the trial ending, Depp made a public appearance on the opening day of the Cannes Film Festival for his latest project ‘Jeanne du Barry.’ The guitarist also has plans to tour with the band but had to postpone due to an ankle injury.
