David Coverdale decided to spread the holiday spirit with a fan Q&A on Whitesnake’s official YouTube channel.

When a fan asked for his favorite Christmas meal, the frontman replied, “Well, in America, we have Thanksgiving like a month before Christmas. So usually, turkey is on Thanksgiving and I actually prefer that for Christmas Day, too. I also love turkey sandwiches but gravy sage, stuffing, mashed potatoes make the most amazing.”

Another fan wanted to learn the meaning behind ‘River Song.’ Coverdale explained, “Well, musically, it’s a tribute to my muse, Jimi Hendrix who I loved but the whole thing is the journey. I was actually born by the river in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, and also overlooking the ocean. So, the North Sea. So, it’s just that and my journey and my blues influence and once again, my tribute to Jimi Hendrix.”

One other fan asked Coverdale what he didn’t like about the original ‘Time and Again.’ The musician responded, “Easy. I think it’s one of my best songs but really the engineer at George Martin’s AIR Studios on Oxford Street forgot to plug the Fender Rhodes piano.”

David added, “The plan was for me to sing the song and then a very capable piano player and probably musicians to come in and overdub it. Everybody loved the vocal. The background singers were there. They were crying, saying how beautiful it was. So Roger Glover and I said, ‘Oh well, let’s keep it on’ but my piano playing is disgusting. So that’s precisely why.”

“So celebrating a new year, I’m looking forward to kicking 2024’s a**. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, brothers and sisters of the Snake. This is SantaSnake, wishing you and yours the happiest of holidays. Merry Merry Christmas. Stay safe, stay happy. Don’t let anybody make you afraid. Cheers, my loves,” Coverdale concluded.

Coverdale also dressed as Santa to share a new ‘Merry Christmas’ video with his fans last year the year before.
