Sammy Hagar recently addressed fan criticism about his Vegas residency setlists. He responded to complaints about playing the same songs repeatedly in a statement shared on Instagram.

The response came after a fan commented on Hagar’s Vegas show setlist post. The fan expressed love for the artist but requested more variety in song selection.

“Are you blind? We opened with mine all mine two nights last week hadn’t been played since 88,” Hagar responded. “I’ve written our code written 500 songs and I play what I think most of the people want to hear.”

The rock veteran continued to explain his approach to setlist curation and the practical challenges involved.

“And I would spend my whole life rehearsing. If I tried to know every song I’ve ever written with my band most people are pretty happy and I am too,” he said. “We have 40 songs. We are playing with these six shows 18–20 a night just saying brother.”

This exchange highlights the ongoing balance artists face between fan requests for deep cuts and delivering crowd-pleasing performances during residency shows.

Hagar’s current Vegas residency demonstrates his commitment to mixing familiar favorites with occasional surprises for dedicated fans.

Setlist.fm documented that the Red Rocker is performing his residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas during March 2026. Multiple shows feature varied setlists. The performances consistently showcase Van Halen classics alongside Chickenfoot songs and select covers, creating a comprehensive retrospective of his career.

The “Mine All Mine” reference in Hagar’s response carries particular significance for longtime fans. Setlist.fm noted that one show featured the Van Halen track as its “first full performance since 2016.” This indicates it had been absent from Hagar’s live rotation for a decade before its recent Vegas appearances.

The residency setlists reveal Hagar’s strategic approach to balancing fan expectations with artistic variety. Setlist.fm reported that Van Halen songs dominate the performances, including “Panama,” “Poundcake,” “Right Now,” “Why Can’t This Be Love,” and “When It’s Love.” The shows also incorporate his solo material like “There’s Only One Way to Rock,” “Heavy Metal,” and “I Can’t Drive 55.”

Notable variations across the Vegas shows include deeper cuts like “Soap on a Rope,” a Chickenfoot song marking its first performance since 2018. The performances also feature Joe Satriani covers such as “Satch Boogie” and “Surfing With the Alien.” These additions demonstrate Hagar’s effort to surprise audiences while maintaining the core repertoire that draws fans to his performances.
