For the first time in over 15 years, Robert Plant performed the Led Zeppelin hit, ‘Stairway To Heaven.’
The rocker got on stage supporting The Cancer Awareness Trust formed by Andy Taylor of Duran Duran. The performance marked the first time Plant performed the hit in 16 years. In a recent interview with Led Zeppelin News, the former Reef and current Goldray guitarist Kenwyn House revealed Plant’s real motivation to sing the hit.
How Plant Decided To Play The Song

House played alongside the Zeppelin guitarist and said that he wasn’t aware of the hit being on the setlist until he arrived for rehearsals. The audience assumed that it was Andy Taylor who requested Plant to play the song, but in reality, it was requested by a donor. In the recent interview, House revealed:
“Someone bid a huge amount of money for him to sing this song. There is a good circle of karma around it. That raised a six figure sum for the charity, that one song.”
House became the first person other than Jimmy Page to perform the hit alongside Plant. Sharing his admiration for the rocker, he continued:
“When Robert Plant walked into the room and I had to play ‘Stairway to Heaven’ with him for the first time in a small enclosed environment, that was probably the most pressured professional situation I have ever, ever come across. I’m in a small room with my hero playing the most famous of his songs.”
On performing one of the biggest hits with Plant, House also said that he was both excited and terrified and that he only had four days to learn every song on the setlist.
Guy Pratt, David Palmer, Andy J. Taylor, Anne Rani, and Dino Jelusick joined the three during their performance. Below, you can see the full performance.
