Paramore has made a comeback following the controversy, as Hayley Williams revealed the Talking Heads tribute project in a new Instagram post.

The post features a video teaser in collaboration with film house A24, promoting a tribute album for the 1984 concert film ‘Stop Making Sense’ by Talking Heads. Paramore will lead the album with their rendition of the classic Talking Heads song ‘Burning Down the House.’ The band’s IG post read:

“‘Stop Making Sense.’ Track 1. Paramore x. A24 Music.”

A24 also said the following in a separate post:

“We’ve got a tape we’d like to play you. 16 tracks from 16 artists. Track 1: Paramore. Coming soon.”

In the video, Hayley opens a big box at her door, revealing a large gray suit jacket similar to the one worn by David Byrne of Talking Heads. She shares puzzled looks with bandmates Taylor York and Zac Farro, then takes a Talking Heads cassette tape from a shelf before the screen goes black. Next, a brief excerpt of Paramore playing Talking Heads’ 1983 hit ‘Burning Down the House’ is shown.

Project Unveiled After Social Media Cleanup

This new project has probably brought relief to concerned fans, as it came after Paramore’s social media accounts were cleared last week. Instagram and X accounts were empty, and the website showed ‘404 Not Found.’ Facebook had the old posts but a missing profile picture.

Fans on Reddit guessed, with some worried about a potential hiatus. One suggestion was a label change, and others recalled a five-year break before the release of ‘This Is Why’ in 2022. The band also withdrew from this year’s iHeartRadio ALTer EGO show, citing ‘unforeseen circumstances’ and expressed apologies for any inconvenience without providing further details.

Paramore’s Future And Label Departure

The timing of deleting content was interesting because Paramore had recently shared uncertainty about the band’s future, questioning whether it would continue. The band wrote on Instagram:

“Now that Paramore has spent the year touring behind ‘This Is Why’ (and making sure to take better care of themselves while they’re at it), a chapter of the band’s career has come to a close. They’ve now fulfilled all label obligations and are effectively free agents. As for the future of Paramore, all three members agreed that there’s a level of uncertainty.”

It was later clarified that Paramore’s actions were a result of their departure from Atlantic Records after completing a 20-year record deal. This decision turned the band into ‘free agents,’ and the removal of the website and social media content was attributed to the split from the record label. The band is set to continue their live performances worldwide in 2024, including a tour with Taylor Swift.
