Slash Praises Aerosmith’s Longevity But Some Fans Disagree
Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist Slash reposted one of the most recent posts of ‘Glam Metal & Sleaze Rock’ and praised Aerosmith’s longevity as they have been in the rock scene for 50 years with their original lineup.
Aerosmith was founded in 1970 by lead vocalist Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry in Boston. Steven and Joe hired bassist Tom Hamilton after a couple of months. For over fifty years, the band released fifteen studio recordings and embarked on countless tours worldwide.
Aerosmith has collaborated and shared the same stage with many celebrities like Chris Cornell, Billy Idol, and Guns N’ Roses star Slash during their career. In 2014, the band hit the road with Slash alongside Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators and attended numerous shows during the ‘Let Rock Rule Tour.’ During a DTE Energy Music Theatre show, Slash brought a birthday cake to Joe Perry to celebrate his 64th birthday.
Recently, Slash shared one of the iconic photos of Aerosmith and stated that they are the only active band with the same members for 50 years. However, some fans commented under the photo and criticized the Guns N’ Roses guitarist for not mentioning other bands like The Rolling Stones and Mötley Crüe. Some fans also reminded that both Joe Perry and Brad Whitford have left the band and came back.
The photo Slash shared in his Instagram post says:
“Aerosmith is officially the only band that is still active with the same members since its founding in 1970. Fifty years of career and an indelible legacy.”
