Chad Kroeger got into trouble with the law in 2006 when the police caught him speeding in Surrey, British Columbia, at 2 am in a $175,000 Lamborghini.
It turned out that the alcohol level in his blood was twice the legal limit during the drive. But Kroeger’s lawyer tried to get the charges against him dropped by arguing the officer did an unlawful search by asking the singer to breathe out to check for alcohol.
They also said it took too long to get a breath sample at the police station, while Judge Justice Peder Gulbrandsen noted there were good reasons for the delay, like arranging a tow for Kroeger’s car. So, the vocalist ended up with a $600 fine and a ban from driving for a year.
In the following years, the Nickelback frontman revealed that this incident wasn’t the only time he got into legal trouble.
His Childhood Crimes

While mentioning the lyrics of ‘Photograph’ about breaking into his high school ‘a dozen times’ during a 2012 chat with Men’s Health, Kroeger admitted to actually being charged with ‘eleven counts of B&E’ in his childhood.
After he confirmed ‘B&E’ stood for ‘breaking and entering,’ the interviewer asked him:
“You’ve been arrested enough times to feel comfortable using the abbreviation ‘B&E’ in conversation?”
Kroeger explained:
“I guess so, yeah. The weird thing is the police accounting was way off. They thought after eleven times, I’d only stolen $168. If you average that out, it’s only $16 a crack. They must’ve thought I was being really sneaky.”
