Neal Schon’s celebration of Steve Perry’s birthday might create an opportunity for the Journey reunion.

“Happy Birthday Steve,” the guitarist captioned his Instagram post, along with a video from his photos with Perry. He put Journey’s ‘Lights’ in the background. Fans also celebrate Steve’s birthday in the comments.

This isn’t the first time Schon has sparked reunion rumors. In November, Schon posted a photo with Perry on X, adding a wink emoji, which excited fans about a possible reunion. Fans discussed the post in the comments.

One tweet said, “Don’t you dare be teasing!!” while another fan wrote, “‘Omg! What??? Could something really be happening here? That would be phenomenal! (and maybe a future NS/SP collab of some kind as a bonus for all of us ‘Patient’ fans! How cool would that be?)”

Another individual went, “Throw him a bone, Neal. Do something before you’re both dead. Anything. You guys created some of the best music of the 20th century.”

The musician also previously said Journey is doing fine without Perry. After he posted about Jonathan Cain’s lawsuit on X, a user commented, “Neal Schon awesome but Journey isn’t Journey without Steve Perry. Sorry. Just truth.”

“Yes I know that’s why we’re selling out stadiums,” Schon responded to the user referring to the band’s success. Later, Rock History shared a list of the best lead singers and asked, “Who’s missing?” Schon named his former bandmate instead of Arnel Pineda, saying, “Steve Perry / Paul Rogers.”

Perry left Journey in 1998 after a bone condition stopped the band’s tour for their ‘Trial by Fire’ album. There were rumors that Schon caused Perry’s departure, but the guitarist denied it in past interviews.
