The former Smiths frontman Morrissey had plans to stage two concerts in California this weekend. However, it was later revealed that the performances would not proceed due to ‘unforeseen circumstances,’ later turning out to be medical issues.

Recently, it has been revealed that the rocker has been seeking medical supervision. His tour manager, Donnie Knutson, revealed the news on his social media accounts. He wrote:

“Morrissey is receiving medical supervision for physical exhaustion. He has been ordered to rest for two weeks, and he will remain in Zurich.”

Morrissey is still expected to perform seven planned performances in Mexico and South America next month.

Morrissey Planned To Play All Of ‘You Are The Quarry’

The bad news was shared on the Honda Center’s official X account, where they reassured the ticket holders that they would be refunded.

Morrissey had intended to present a full performance of his 2004 album ‘You Are the Quarry’ during both shows, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the record that achieved his best U.S. chart performance. The album includes four singles that reached the UK Top 10: ‘Irish Blood, English Heart,’ ‘First of the Gang to Die,’ ‘Let Me Kiss You,’ and ‘I Have Forgiven Jesus.’

Similar to the recent incident, during his last show in Los Angeles, during his previous performance in Los Angeles, Morrissey exited the stage at the city’s Greek Theater after a mere 20 minutes. One of his bandmates informed the audience:

“Sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the show is not going to continue. Very sorry. We’ll see you next time. Apologies.”

It has not yet been announced whether the canceled performances will be rescheduled for later dates.
