Max Cavalera has delivered disappointing news to fans regarding the possibility of a new Nailbomb album. He shared his thoughts in a recent interview with Louder Sound.
Cavalera expressed his personal enthusiasm when asked about the chances of a follow-up to Nailbomb’s cult classic ‘Point Blank.’ He also acknowledged the reality of the situation.
“If it was all entirely up to me, I’d love to do it,” Cavalera said. “Being the kind of person that I am, I love working, I love creating music, this is what I was put on this planet to do.”
However, Cavalera explained the main obstacle preventing a new album from happening.
“But I don’t think it’s gonna happen because Alex (Newport) is too happy right now,” he continued. “It’s actually cool that you have one cult record that people from all walks of life like. So I don’t think it’s going to happen, but we’ve still got the live stuff.”
Cavalera remains excited about performing the existing songs live despite the lack of new material.
“To me, Point Blank is an amazing record to play live,” he said. “Bloodstock is in for a surprise – they’re gonna see some amazing stuff.”
The band recently reunited after 30 years for live performances. Fans will have to settle for live shows rather than new studio material.
Cavalera’s comments highlight the enduring legacy of a project that left a significant mark on the metal landscape despite its brief existence. The disappointment over a potential new album underscores just how influential Nailbomb’s singular output has remained over the decades.
Wikipedia documented that Point Blank remains Nailbomb’s only studio album. The album was originally released in 1994 by Roadrunner Records and gained cult status despite the band’s short lifespan. The album showcased a unique blend of influences ranging from industrial metal to punk. This created a sound that was both aggressive and experimental for its time.
The project’s complete musical legacy has been preserved for fans through comprehensive reissues. Cherry Red Records reported that fans can revisit Nailbomb’s complete recordings through the 26-track double CD package ‘1000% Hate’. The collection includes Point Blank and the live album ‘Proud To Commit Commercial Suicide.’ This collection captures their legendary 1995 Dynamo Festival performance, preserving the raw energy that made their live shows so memorable.
The collaboration between Cavalera and Newport represented a unique moment in metal history. It brought together the Sepultura frontman’s thrash metal expertise with Newport’s industrial and alternative rock background. Their partnership created a sound that influenced countless bands in the industrial metal and nu-metal movements that followed.
Fans may be disappointed by the lack of new material. However, Cavalera’s enthusiasm for performing the existing songs live suggests that Nailbomb’s legacy will continue to reach new audiences through their reunion performances. This keeps the spirit of this cult project alive for both longtime fans and newcomers to discover.
