In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Halestorm lead vocalist Lzzy Hale reflected on Amy Lee’s guidance in facing her fears of singing.

The singer initially talked about her close friendship with Lee, which started when Amy asked to do harmonies for Halestorm’s song ‘Break In.’ Singing together nightly helped Lzzy grow as a vocalist. They keep in touch regularly, sharing messages and humor. Despite their confidence on stage, Hale admits to feeling nervous about speaking in public, as she explained:

“Regardless of the fact we’re both frontwomen and can sing to thousands of people if you ask me to get up and speak to someone, I still get nervous. So we’d have these talks where she’d see me and be like, ‘Are you nervous? Don’t think, just sing!'”

Hale’s Favorite Evanescence Songs And Their Significance

The Halestorm frontwoman then quickly named two favorite Evanescence songs, both popular tracks from their album ‘Fallen.’ She noted:

“Originally, I’d have said ‘Going Under,’ because that hooked me even beyond ‘Bring Me To Life’ – I love that song so much, and one of these days, I’ll sing it in karaoke. But right now, it’s ‘Tourniquet’ because that song makes me so happy. It means so much more to me now than it did in 2003 as I’ve grown with it.”

Reflecting On The ‘Fallen’ Album

Hale further discussed her thoughts on the ‘Fallen’ album of Evanescence in earlier part of her chat, explaining:

“The entire album is such a beautiful collection, and there’s no filler. There are people who relate to that record all over the world; it touched so many different people in so many different languages. They dove headfirst into the shark tank and showed everyone else the way.”

Being Frontwomen In Rock Music

There are also other issues that the two female vocalists support each other. In a joint interview with Alternative Press, both Lee and Hale talked about the challenges of being a woman in the rock industry. Amy said:

“We love supporting each other. Lzzy and I were talking about this recently, and I’m going to steal [her] answer a little bit. Just talking about it feels really good to blast the stereotype that women can’t support each other and get along. It’s just really untrue. We need each other. Every strong woman has a friend helping her get through it and process.”

The two shared the same stage again in 2021 when Halestorm and Evanescence hit the road for their joint US tour. The bands had to cancel some of the shows when some of their crew tested positive for COVID-19.
