Lollapalooza has announced its 2025 headliners through its official Instagram account. The announcement reveals a lineup dominated by pop and hip-hop artists.

The festival’s headliners include Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Tyler, the Creator, Doechii, A$AP Rocky, Gracie Abrams, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Korn, TWICE, and Luke Combs.

Korn will return to Lollapalooza for the first time since their 1997 performance. They are the first metal band to headline the festival after a three-year absence. The absence of other rock and metal acts among the 2025 headliners has sparked discussions about the festival’s shifting focus away from its rock music roots.

The festival’s current direction marks a significant change from its origins. Loudwire noted that Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell founded Lollapalooza in 1991 as a farewell tour. The event eventually evolved into one of America’s premier music festivals. Early lineups featured iconic rock and metal bands like Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam.

The 2025 edition will take place from July 31 to August 3 at Chicago’s Grant Park. Nu Metal Agenda highlighted that Korn’s position as the sole metal representative demonstrates both the band’s enduring appeal and the industry’s shift toward pop and hip-hop acts.

This transformation reflects broader changes in festival programming. Traditional rock headliners have become increasingly rare at major music festivals. The inclusion of diverse acts like TWICE from K-pop and Luke Combs from country music shows Lollapalooza’s evolution into a multi-genre event. The festival now prioritizes current streaming and chart success over historical genre connections.

The festival maintains its position as a premier music event. It offers various ticket options, from single-day passes to complete festival experiences, serving an increasingly diverse audience base.
