Kerry King, former Slayer guitarist, shared his thoughts on comparisons between his solo project and his previous band in a recent interview with BEM QUE SE KISS on YouTube.

“I appreciate that,” King said about the ‘Slayer on steroids’ comments. “I didn’t go out of my way to outdo Slayer.”

“To me, it was honestly the next 12 or 13 songs, the ones we finished, the ones we felt good about,” he continued. “I do think that record’s got teeth. It’s fierce; it just rips out of the speakers.”

“I never set out to do anything better than Slayer,” King added. “I just wanted my next thing to be good.”

King’s comments arrive at a significant moment in his post-Slayer career. He is now venturing into new musical territory while maintaining his signature style.

Loudwire revealed that King’s solo album, ‘From Hell I Rise,’ demonstrates his artistic evolution. The album retains elements that will resonate with Slayer fans.

The project brought together several established musicians. Blabbermouth reported that the lineup includes vocalist Mark Osegueda, bassist Kyle Sanders, guitarist Phil Demmel, and former Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph.

King embraced musical exploration in this new project. The album features tracks like ‘Two Fists,’ which incorporates punk influences that wouldn’t have fit Slayer’s style.

The guitarist’s experience with his new band has reignited his early career excitement. Blabbermouth noted that King has adopted a different approach in this venture. He now shares creative control, unlike his role in Slayer.
