Dave Navarro has signaled that Jane’s Addiction will continue without Perry Farrell. He shared updates about new recording sessions with Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins on Instagram.

The guitarist’s social media post revealed that the band is actively working on new material with the remaining original members during ongoing legal proceedings involving Farrell.

“Back at it with Eric Avery, Stephen Perkins, and [producer] Robert Adam Stevenson,” Navarro wrote in the caption of his post.

This development comes as the band members navigate continued legal disputes with Perry Farrell. It suggests the group intends to move forward with their remaining lineup.

The decision to continue without Farrell follows a turbulent period that saw the band’s reunion tour come to an abrupt end in 2024.

Notreble reported that the band canceled the remainder of their US tour after an onstage altercation between Farrell and Navarro. The remaining members expressed concern for Farrell’s mental health and safety. They confirmed their commitment to continuing without him for the time being.

The current studio sessions mark a significant shift from the band’s earlier 2024 reunion, which had initially shown promise. 101X noted that the original lineup performed their first new music together in 34 years, debuting the single “Imminent Redemption” in London. That reunion garnered critical acclaim, with some calling it Jane’s Addiction’s best performances in decades.

The trio is now developing new songs. Avery has posted studio clips that tease fresh material built on Perkins’ drumming and Navarro’s guitar work. Kerrang revealed that fans speculate the project might extend Jane’s Addiction’s legacy or possibly connect to the ’90s side project Deconstruction, which featured Avery and Navarro sharing vocal duties.

The band’s decision to move forward without Farrell signals a new chapter for Jane’s Addiction. It highlights the complexities as they balance creative ambitions with personal and legal challenges that have defined their recent history.
