Journey guitarist Neal Schon has complaints about rock musicians’ low payments and digital streaming services. Sharing his complaints on X, the rocker made comments to urge the government of the U.S. to take action about it.
Replying to the former Steelheart guitarist, Bill LoNero, about the music industry needing to be ‘burnt to the ground,’ he approved of the guitarist’s words and wrote the following:
“Streaming has f*cked everyone, period. Why do we still get paid for vinyl at normal rates but everything else has been fucked up and left that way? Needs to go to Congress.”
Lars Ulrich Took it to Court

The payment issues affected a lot of artists, and many names offered to get paid for vinyl instead, but it was all in vain. Artists such as Snoop Dogg commented on the issue earlier and shared their complaints about how little streaming platforms pay them. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, too, even took legal action because, apparently, Napster, another streaming platform, used Metallica’s songs without permission, which back then caused a backlash against them.
Schon’s Earlier Comments About Payments

Schon is concerned about the future of music, and has shared his thoughts on the matter earlier as well.
Earlier, a news article from a certain source reported that President Joe Biden issued an executive order that introduced new rules and guidelines concerning the use of AI in music and art. In the executive order, the President required AI creators to provide important information, like safety test results, to the United States government.
In response, Schon shared his frustration by stating that they should do something about the streaming platforms for the musicians to get paid as well, implying that these platforms were ripping them off.
