John Dolmayan revealed Glenn Close’s hidden role in System of a Down.

“I guess the cats out of the bag thanks to that a@#h*+£ Nikki Glaser. The fact is Glenn Close wrote the drums for most of the second system album and had to come in to lock down decent takes of a few songs as I just couldn’t handle the difficulty and we were running out of time,” the drummer wrote.

He continued, “Thanks to Daron Malakian, Serj Tankian, Shavo Odadjian and Team Coco for keeping the secret for so long. (a little-known fact is that Conan co- produced all our albums). I feel better that the truth is out there.”

Dolmayan shared a photo of Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, and Shavo Odadjian from the past, with Close’s face photoshopped over his.

At the 2025 Golden Globes, Nikki Glaser joked about System of a Down while introducing Glenn Close. “To present our next award please welcome, from Netflix’s Back in Action, three-time Golden Globe Award winner, Hollywood icon and former drummer for System of a Down — Glenn Close,” she stated while introducing Close.

The joke caught Daron Malakian’s attention, and he joined in on social media. The rocker wrote, “Bet you didn’t know!!!! Bet you didn’t know!!!!! Somewhere between our first drummer and John, Glenn Close was tearing sh*t up on the drums for us!!!!!!”

Most fans found the joke funny, but some were confused and thought it was real. “That was the second best moment of the night,” a fan said with a laughing emoji. “Who’s this first drummer guy?” another individual jokingly asked.

One other person commented, “Bruh I took this serious lol, only Andy and John were drummers for system.” Another one shared, “I’m so confused someone explain.”

System of a Down announced a South American tour for spring. Earlier, they revealed three summer shows: one in New Jersey with Korn, one in Chicago with Avenged Sevenfold, and one in Toronto with Deftones.
