In a recent Instagram post, Daron Malakian reacted to Nikki Glaser’s Golden Globe joke about System of a Down.

The comedian introduced actress Glenn Close, who was presenting the Best Motion Picture – Drama award. “To present our next award please welcome, from Netflix’s Back in Action, three-time Golden Globe Award winner, Hollywood icon and former drummer for System of a Down — Glenn Close,” she said while introducing Close.

Malakin shared a video of Glaser’s introduction and wrote, “Bet you didn’t know!!!! Bet you didn’t know!!!!! Somewhere between our first drummer and John, Glenn Close was tearing sh*t up on the drums for us!!!!!!”

Most fans laughed at the joke, but some seemed confused, thinking it was true. “That was the second best moment of the night,” a fan wrote with a laughing emoji. “Who’s this first drummer guy?” another person jokingly asked.

One other individual commented, “Bruh I took this serious lol, only Andy and John were drummers for system.” Another one added, “I’m so confused someone explain.”

System of a Down recently announced a South American tour for the spring. This came after they revealed three summer shows: one in New Jersey with Korn, another in Chicago with Avenged Sevenfold, and a stop in Toronto with Deftones.

System of a Down released ‘Mezmerize’ and ‘Hypnotize’ in 2005 and then took a break. They reunited in 2011 but mostly play single concerts and festivals instead of touring a lot.

At the 82nd Golden Globes, other presenters included Andrew Garfield, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicolas Cage, and more. Emilia Pérez won Best Picture in Musical or Comedy, while ‘The Brutalist’ took Best Picture in Drama. Emilia Pérez got 10 nominations, and ‘The Brutalist’ had 7. Ted Danson received the Carol Burnett Award for Career Achievements.
