John Corabi Reveals What Bothers Him Most About Mötley Crüe

John Corabi, getting ready to tour the world with the Dead Daisies this August, recently chatted with Rockin’ Metal Revival. During the talk, he shared thoughts about his run with Mötley Crüe over two decades ago and what really bothered him about his former band.

The interviewer first asked Corabi whether being asked questions about Mötley Crüe bugged him as it’s been almost three decades since he went his own way. However, the singer didn’t seem to be agitated, as he answered:

“It doesn’t bother me because look, at the end of the day, I do realize, first of all, I’m grateful for the opportunity that they gave me. I also realize, too, that having been a part of that has actually given me, you know, I don’t wanna say ‘longevity’ because I’ve been productive. But it’s just kind of kept me afloat. I can’t even say that. Maybe ‘longevity’ would be the word; it’s given me some longevity or some credibility, whatever.”

Still, apart from the ‘advantages’ Mötley brought to him, Corabi also made it clear there was one aspect about his former band that still bothered him. He explained:

“The thing that bugs me more than anything is if the question, like if I do an interview and the whole interview winds up, or the majority of it winds up being about Mötley, that’s kind of frustrating ’cause you wanna talk about the new thing that you’re doing. But the other thing that irritates me is I get asked questions about that, and I give honest answers, or my opinion anyway, and it winds up becoming clickbait on — God — every website ever.”

Corabi then criticized the public reaction to his statements about Mötley Crüe, especially from the band’s fans:

“And then it’s funny — you see these comments from the fans, and it kind of irritates me because I’ve done this in the past where I said, ‘You know what? I don’t wanna talk about that.’ And immediately, all the comments after they wrote on all the clickbait channels, it was, like, ‘Oh, John Corabi doesn’t wanna talk about Mötley Crüe anymore.’ And all these comments are, like, ‘Oh, my God. What an ungrateful bastard. They gave him the opportunity of a lifetime.'”

Delving more into it and explaining his solution, he added:

“But then, if I do talk about it and somebody asks me [for my] opinion and I give it, they’re, like, ‘Oh my God. Doesn’t that guy have anything better to do? He’s still talking about Mötley Crüe 26 years later.’ So I’ve just kind of resolved myself to being, whatever way I go, I’m gonna stick my foot in my mouth, so just start learning to enjoy the taste of my socks. [Laughs]”

Corabi lastly faced backlash for his remarks on Mick Mars’ departure from Mötley Crüe. He suggested that the guitarist didn’t decide to leave but was forced out by the band. When people criticized his words, the vocalist revisited the matter during a chat with ‘Sofa King Cool Magazine,’ saying:

“I caught a lot of flak of this. And to be honest, I don’t really want to get into Mick’s business or Mötley’s business; it’s not my place. I caught some flak for this when I was in Europe. I did a book signing in London, and a fan asked me about the press release. And all I said was, ‘That’s a statement that’s been prepared by Mötley and their management. I haven’t heard anything from Mick. But I’m not necessarily agreeing with what I’m hearing.'”
