Iced Earth founding guitarist Jon Schaffer has released the official music video for “Jekyll Island,” a track from his Sons Of Liberty project.
The video caption notes that “Jekyll Island” originally appeared on the 2009 Sons Of Liberty album Brush-fires of the Mind.
“Jon Schaffer’s Sons of Liberty – Jekyll Island,” the caption read. “Jekyll Island is originally from the 2009 Brush-fires of the Mind album.”
Fans welcomed the video in the comments, with several highlighting Schaffer’s return to playing guitar.
“So good to see Jon with a guitar again! Great song and video, gentlemen!” one fan wrote. “God bless you, Jon. I will pray He gives you the inspiration and strength to carry on with music. We all need it.”
Another commenter added: “I lack the words to explain just how satisfying it is to see a guitar in his hands again.”
Sons Of Liberty was Schaffer’s political side project, launched in 2009. Brush-fires of the Mind was initially made available as a free download before later receiving a physical release. Schaffer wrote the material and handled guitars and lead vocals on the album.
The new video revisits one of the project’s early songs and offers longtime followers another look at Schaffer performing with a guitar.
