John Corabi, former Mötley Crüe vocalist, shared his thoughts about career trajectory and financial status in a recent interview with Laughingmonkeymusic.
He offered a candid perspective about success timing and recognition throughout his musical journey. His comments specifically addressed the disparity between his career outcomes and those of more commercially successful artists.
“I am like everybody else. What I mean I just sit here sometimes and I scratch my head and I go like, and I don’t mean this to sound facetious, but I just sit there sometimes and I go, ‘Why is my bank account not like Steven Tyler’s? or why am I not getting into my Ford GT?’ Timing,” Corabi said.
He reflected on past experiences: “When we were doing my book, I sat down and I go, ‘Man you know what I have been 10 minutes late to like everything.’ It’s even relationships with women, it’s like I thought it was the one, but it wasn’t the one.”
The musician elaborated on the delayed recognition of his work: “I can’t explain it for the life of me like every record I’ve ever done nobody gave a sh*t about it right when it was coming out. Everything I’ve ever done has gotten positive review,s but it just didn’t connect for some weird reason. And then like 10 years later I sit here and I watch like YouTube videos or a Google thing will pop up and it’s like, ‘Oh my God, this record is hidden gem, cult classic.’ They use all these terms. I go, ‘Where were you guys like 20 years ago?'”
Corabi expressed optimism about future projects: “So I’ve just kind of gotten into the mindset where I go, ‘You know what? I’m going to release a solo record in the next year or so and my granddaughters hopefully 20 years from now will be set for the rest of their life.'”
He also took time to acknowledge his career achievements: “I have to remind myself that I’ve been blessed. I’ve had a record deal with The Scream, a record deal with Mötley Crüe, three record deals with Union, I had one with my solo acoustic record, and the ones with the Dead Daisies. I had like eight or nine record deals.”
Corabi’s impact on rock music remains significant despite not reaching the financial heights of his peers.
Data from Celebrity Net Worth highlighted his notable tenure with Mötley Crüe. He served as lead vocalist from 1992 to 1996. The band’s self-titled 1994 album reached #7 on the US charts and earned Gold certification during his time with the group.
Records from Love Money documented his next career move. Corabi formed the rock band Union with former Kiss member Bruce Kulick after leaving Mötley Crüe. This collaboration showcased his versatility in the industry.
His musical evolution led him to The Dead Daisies in 2015. He contributed to several successful albums with the band. These included ‘Revolucion,’ ‘Make Some Noise,’ and ‘Burn It Down.’ Each release strengthened his legacy in the rock music scene.
Financial publications through financial reports place Corabi’s current net worth at approximately $1 million. His focus remains on creating meaningful music and building a legacy for his family rather than pursuing financial success.
Corabi currently works on new music projects. These include an upcoming solo album and material with The Dead Daisies.
