Former Mötley Crüe frontman John Corabi recently opened up about the uncertain state of his future with The Dead Daisies. He shared his candid thoughts in a recent interview.
Corabi revealed that both he and bassist Michael Devin were caught off guard by recent developments within the band. These included a surprise appearance by former frontman Glenn Hughes and the unexpected release of a live record.
“I’m not sure, dude, because, to be quite honest with you, I don’t know what is going on with that band right now,” Corabi said. “Michael [Devin, The Dead Daisies bassist] and I are just kind of sitting here scratching our heads, because… Last year when I told [The Dead Daisies management] I got this record deal, I told them, ‘Hey, I signed a deal with Frontiers. I’m gonna do a solo album.'”
Corabi went on to explain how the situation unfolded while he was on tour promoting his solo work.
“And they were, like, ‘Okay, cool.’ And then later, the manager was, like, ‘You know what? Actually, we’re gonna take a year off. David’s [Lowy, The Dead Daisies founder and rhythm guitarist] gonna go hang with his dad. So knock yourself out. You got a whole year to finish your record and go promote it.’ And then we’re on tour, and then all of a sudden it’s like they’re doing a show with [previous The Dead Daisies frontman] Glenn Hughes, who I adore, so don’t read anything into that. I love Glenn Hughes.”
Despite the confusion, Corabi made clear he holds no ill will and remains focused on his own music.
“But it’s, like, then they release a [live] record that it was from a show that we did on the last tour. They released the record, like, one week after mine, and I’m, like, ‘I don’t even know what’s going on right now.’ So Michael and I are, like, ‘Are we still employed by The Daisies or…?’ I don’t even know what’s going on,” he continued. “But I’m not worried about it. I’m just, like, ‘You know what? Whatever.’ I’m very happy doing what I’m doing, and I’m very proud of the record that I just delivered.”
The status of Corabi’s continued involvement with The Dead Daisies remains unclear. No official statement from the band or its management has been issued at this time.
The confusion surrounding Corabi’s comments is not without context. The Dead Daisies have been actively moving forward with Hughes in a visible and public capacity, raising legitimate questions about the band’s direction and the future of its current lineup.
The Dead Daisies performed a one-off live show featuring Glenn Hughes on May 30, 2026, at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois. The event was billed as a night of “Daisies hits and Deep Purple classics.” Hughes delivered performances that drew on his storied history with the legendary British rock band. The show was promoted directly through the band’s official channels, signaling more than a casual or informal collaboration.
Hughes’ involvement with The Dead Daisies came amid an already busy period for the veteran vocalist and bassist. He launched an extensive 2026 US spring tour under the banner “The Chosen Years,” which kicked off on March 27, 2026. The tour included the May 30 date with The Dead Daisies as a notable stop. It supported his solo album Chosen, released in September 2025, further cementing his profile as one of rock’s most active and in-demand figures heading into the year.
Despite the high-profile nature of the Hughes collaboration, no official statement from The Dead Daisies or their management has confirmed any permanent lineup change. The May 30 show was described as a one-off event, suggesting the arrangement remains temporary rather than a formal restructuring of the band’s roster. The absence of any clear communication from the band’s camp is precisely what has left Corabi and Devin in the dark.
Hughes is no stranger to The Dead Daisies, having previously served as the band’s frontman. His return, even in a limited capacity, inevitably invites comparisons and speculation about the band’s long-term plans. For Corabi, who joined the group and contributed to its recent touring and recording output, the lack of transparency from management has created an uncomfortable and unresolved situation. As of now, neither he nor the band has publicly moved to resolve it.
