Former Anthrax and current Armored Saint frontman John Bush has revealed he is open to doing a special celebratory tour that would include him, ex-Anthrax singer Neil Turbin, and current Anthrax singer Joey Belladonna, similar to what Helloween has been doing. Bush shared his thoughts in an interview with The Metal Voice.
Bush expressed admiration for Helloween’s approach to reuniting multiple vocalists. He indicated his interest in pursuing a similar concept with Anthrax.
“I think it was really cool what Helloween did with all that. I think it’s a very creative, and it was something that I think I would like to do that,” Bush said.
However, Bush acknowledged that the decision would ultimately depend on the current Anthrax frontman’s willingness to participate.
“I think that probably the person that would have to be convinced would be Joey [Belladonna, current Anthrax frontman], quite frankly. And I understand whatever his perspective is on it, whether he doesn’t or does wanna do it. It’s up to him, really,” he continued.
Bush emphasized that all parties would need to be fully committed to the idea for it to work.
“And the band, of course. But I think everybody would have to feel like ‘I’m in’. Or not. And if you’re not, then don’t do it by any means,” he added.
Bush’s comments represent his personal interest in such a collaboration. He has already taken concrete steps to celebrate his era with Anthrax through solo performances.
Loudwire reported that Bush announced three special shows in December 2025 titled “Celebrating the Songs of Anthrax 1993-2003.” He will perform material from his four albums with Anthrax, backed by his band Category 7. The tour dates include December 13 at Whisky A Go-Go in Los Angeles, December 18 at Arcadia Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois, and December 20 at Racket NYC in New York City.
Bush’s tenure with Anthrax spanned from 1992 to 2005. During this period, he recorded four albums: Sound of White Noise (1993), Stomp 442 (1995), Volume 8: The Threat Is Real (1998), and We’ve Come for You All (2003). Blabbermouth noted that he was sidelined in 2005 when the band reunited with Joey Belladonna for a 20th-anniversary tour. He briefly returned in 2009 after Dan Nelson’s departure for a few shows and has since maintained positive relationships with band members.
The multi-vocalist concept Bush referenced draws inspiration from Helloween’s successful reunion approach. Blabbermouth detailed that Helloween has featured multiple past and present vocalists, including Michael Kiske and Andi Deris, on their reunion tours over the past decade. Bush described this approach as “really cool” as a potential model for Anthrax’s multi-era shows.
Joey Belladonna’s history with Anthrax adds another layer of complexity to Bush’s proposal. Belladonna served as Anthrax’s original lead vocalist from 1984 to 1992. He contributed to classic albums like Spreading the Disease (1985), Among the Living (1987), and State of Euphoria (1988). He rejoined in 2005 for the band’s 20th-anniversary tour, left again, and returned permanently in 2010 after Bush’s second stint ended and Nelson departed.
