Former Mötley Crüe singer John Corabi recently reflected on the drama between Mick Mars and Mötley Crüe. The singer shared with The Metal Voice that he doesn’t know the details, but he expected the fallout to happen by saying:
“Mick [Mars] was, you know… I got to be honest with you I’m kind of clueless. I said what I had to say in the very beginning when that first press release came out that Mick wasn’t going to tour due to his health. I made a couple of statements; somebody asked me a question, and I made the statements. Now I’m just sitting there saying, ‘I’m keeping my mouth shut, but none of the drama surprises me.’ That’s all I gotta say.”
Corabi also mentioned in the interview how his percentage grew over time within the band by adding:
“So when I was in the band [Mötley Crüe], I was a member, and it was an escalating percentage. So the first year, I was like, even though I had 25 percent of input in writing and all that stuff to other things like merch other companies they had, I was like 10, then the following record was 15, and then it would eventually work up to 25 but as far as the writing publishing, you know when we were on tour, I was a member.”
Regarding his initial statements about the feud, the rocker had claimed back in late 2022 that the band probably ‘showed Mick Mars the door.’ He said:
“I don’t totally believe Mick’s reasons for leaving Mötley. And I don’t even know if he left Mötley. I believe maybe he was shown the door. Because as long as I can remember… F*ck, when we were doing the ‘Generation Swine’ record, they were complaining about his guitar playing then.”
After receiving criticism over his previous comments about Mars’ departure, John recently clarified his words in an interview with ‘Sofa King Cool Magazine.’ He explained:
“I caught a lot of flak of this. And to be honest, I don’t really want to get into Mick’s business or Mötley’s business; it’s not my place. I caught some flak for this when I was in Europe. I did a book signing in London, and a fan asked me about the press release. And all I said was, ‘That’s a statement that’s been prepared by Mötley and their management. I haven’t heard anything from Mick. But I’m not necessarily agreeing with what I’m hearing.'”
