Ex-Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg released footage of a clinic he held in Paris last October, playing two songs from Slipknot’s ‘We Are Not Your Kind.’ The clinic took place at Le Trianon on October 27, with Weinberg performing ‘Spiders’ and ‘Solway Firth.’ This was the first time he played Slipknot songs in public since leaving the band in 2023.

While the fans loved his performance, they weren’t happy that Slipknot fired ‘such a great drummer.’ A user commented under Weinberg’s latest Instagram post, “Slipknot lost another great drummer!!” Another user wrote, “Why Slipknot decided to fire you is beyond me. Without you there’d be no Slipknot today. Cannot wait to see where you’ll take your career next.”

“What a shame. Such a great drummer man. Like literally carried Slipknot for 10 years. Cmon… like imagine ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ without Jay’s wicked playing,” another added.

Weinberg joined Slipknot in 2014, replacing Joey Jordison, and played on three albums before getting fired. His exit was announced as a creative decision. Weinberg later said he was ‘heartbroken and blindsided‘ by the departure. He also entered counseling to process his 10 years with the band.

However, Weinberg is not done making music. “This photo is from 2017, during a period of time when I had actually put together a group to play this music in a band setting, during a prolonged downtime from touring. It was awesome, and a great creative challenge,” he shared on Instagram in December.

The drummer then revealed he started working on solo material. “I haven’t touched these songs since then, until recently feeling inspiration to pick the guitar back up and kick this stuff around again. It’s been a fulfilling experience, and I’ll tell you – I’m starting to like where these songs are headed. It feels good to finally set the intention of releasing some of this new music in the coming year.”

The drummer also joined Suicidal Tendencies a few months after his exit from Slipknot.
