In a recent conversation with Guitar World, Jerry Cantrell revealed whether he is working on new music with Alice In Chains.
The guitarist joined the interview to discuss his solo album ‘I Want Blood’ and he was also asked about a new Alice In Chains record. Cantrell replied, “I’m just at the very beginning of the campaign for this record, so right now I’m committed to doing this.”
“I began writing for this record last year, and I recorded the album this year. I’m already on tour for it. I’ll probably wrap this thing up sometime next fall. That’ll be the end of the campaign, but that’s a long way to go. So, right now this is where I’m at – I want blood, man!” the rocker added.
“There’s a couple of things that we’re working on, like non-album related,” Cantrell revealed last year about Alice In Chains’ future plans. “We’re going to jump on a call [soon], we’ve got a few creative irons in the fire, but I’m at the very beginning of this cycle that I’ve committed to so I pretty much kind of keep my focus on this.”
Alice In Chains’ vocalist William DuVall also said the band was focused on other things rather than a record in 2023. The singer explained, “I would suppose [new music will happen], right? There’s no plans in the offing right now, because we’re all kind of doing other things. But inevitably it seems to kind of circle back.”
“Right now we’re just coming out of the lockdowns, and we’ve all been busy doing our own thing. Jerry is out on tour at the moment for his solo album, and I’m doing my thing,” DuVall shared in 2022. “We have plans for some live shows in September/October, and I’m sure that will blow off the cobwebs and we’ll start looking at some new ideas for the next Alice In Chains album.”
Alice In Chains released their ‘Rainier Fog’ album in 2018. DuVall also disclosed in December that the band would be back with new projects in 2025.
