Creating a good song is not an easy craft; you may get lucky once and do a good job, but that luck may not always follow you. Consistency requires real talent. Chad Kroeger got into a conversation with My Planet Rocks, and he was asked how he realized he had succeeded in writing songs early in his career. The frontman confessed that sometimes, he found himself questioning whether all of the success was just luck and shared his thoughts.

“It’s funny… You would think that until you go write another song,” the frontman said when asked about his songwriting skills. “Sometimes, when I write something, it’s just a little bit mediocre. Or I start working on something or going down a path, and I sit back and look at it… You’re second guessing like, ‘What am I doing?’ [laughs] Did I just get lucky several times over and over?’”

He continued, “And then there are other times where you hit that feeling immediately. And you get that ice ball in your stomach, those butterflies, and you can feel the electricity. And obviously, it’s like, ‘Ooh, this is good. Oh, if we work hard on this, this could be really, really good.’ Stuff like ‘How You Remind Me’ just came so easy.”

Nickelback is one of the names who took the big chance and made their name known to the rock scene by coming on stage with a solid song. However, they did their best to keep this position; they have released ten albums so far and have managed to develop their sound with different touches over time.

Their last album ‘Get Rollin’’ dropped this year. Judging by the occasional interviews of the members, they didn’t rush the album they’ve been working on since 2019. They didn’t run with the time pressure but carefully crafted the album to do a good job. This album, where the band went in a more metal direction, has received good feedback so far.
