Nikki Sixx Drops A Bombshell About Mötley Crüe’s Future

Mötley Crüe’s new single, ‘Dogs of War,’ arrived on April 26. Nikki Sixx talked about it in a chat with Interview magazine and shared details about a possible full-length album. He said ‘no album’ as the bombshell on the table and continued:

“It’s a little different now. You get a thumbnail of a picture of the album art. You listen to a few songs, you get sidetracked. It’s on a playlist. So, we’re like, let’s do more A-level songs instead of trying to write 10 or 11 songs.”

He explained:

“Even ‘Dr. Feelgood,’ one of our most successful albums, I could probably go in and name some of the songs that are not as on par as ‘Kickstart My Heart.’ It doesn’t mean they’re bad songs, but I’d rather have 10 ‘Kickstart My Hearts’ over the next 10 years than four ‘Kickstart My Hearts’ and ‘Rattlesnake Shake’ and ‘Five Years Dead.’ Those are great album tracks. It’s just the way we’re thinking now.”

The band recorded three songs in early 2023. John 5 said two of these tracks were originals and one was a cover of Beastie Boys’ ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).’

The Band’s Vocalist Confirms Sixx

Vince Neil revealed that Mötley Crüe had no plans to release a full album earlier this month. The singer told Loudwire Nights:

“I don’t think you’re gonna see a full-length album at any time. It’s easier now just to do a few songs at a time and release ’em in the right ways. Albums don’t exist anymore. With the MTV generation, you’d go to a record store and you’d find your favorite songs and your album and you’d buy the album, and you’d watch it on MTV and you can see your favorite bands. Now there’s a billion ways [to consume music] — streaming services and all those things.”

Still, new music will keep coming especially since the band now has a new deal with Big Machine Records. Neil added:

“Yeah, I’d say more individual songs. We’ve got one in the can right now, and we don’t know when we’ll put it out, but it might be at the end of the year. It might be early ’25. But you’ll definitely hear some new music from Mötley in the future.”

Meanwhile, the Crüe will kick off a new tour in North America on June 21. They will take the stage at Summerfest 2024 and then move to Mount Pleasant, MI, on June 23.
