Glenn Hughes Implies David Coverdale Might Have To Retire

During a recent interview with 107.1 The Boss radio station, Glenn Hughes shared his thoughts about his former Deep Purple bandmate David Coverdale implying that he might have to retire after the upgoing Whitesnake tour. The rocker revealed the problems his long-time friend has been having with his health, which might lead to retirement. While discussing a possible collaboration, the rocker said the following:

“We spoke about it, but the window of opportunity is closing a lot because David has not — he’s still got a problem with sinusitis.”

He then revealed his thoughts on Coverdale’s possibility of retiring:

“Look, I only wanna wish him the very best. I’m not sure if he’s gonna… I hope he continues… I think he’s on the last tour right now, but I still think he’s not ready to go out again. I do speak to him often. I can’t say any more than that.”

The rocker then shared his best wishes to Coverdale and his Deep Purple bandmates:

“I only wanna wish David and all my classmates of Deep Purple only the very, very best. I do love David very, very much. He’s one of my closest friends.”

Last year, Whitesnake had to cancel several shows due to Coverdale’s diagnosis of infection of the sinus & trachea, who was recommended five days of no singing and bed rest.

Although two years ago, the rocker shared that he would retire after the supporting tour of the band’s ‘Flesh & Blood’ album, he still seems to be continuing touring.

A few months ago, Coverdale revealed that he was initially planning to retire at the age of 69 but ultimately failed when the pandemic got in the way of his retirement plan. The rocker shared that he felt like it was the appropriate age to retire and revealed that the band had three to five years’ worth of projects to do to finish off.
