Rhino Records just announced that they will release The Warner Recordings 1985-1994 by David Lee Roth on February 21st.
This 5-CD and limited edition 5-LP set will feature Roth’s first five solo albums. 1985’s ‘Crazy From the Heat,’ 1986’s ‘Eat ‘Em and Smile,’ 1988’s ‘Skyscraper,’ 1991’s ‘A Little Ain’t Enough’ and 1994’s ‘Your Filthy Little Mouth’ will all be together in one collection for the first time.
The upcoming vinyl box set will feature the first-ever repressing of ‘Your Filthy Little Mouth,’ originally released only in Germany in 1994. This makes the original vinyl pressing a rare and expensive collector’s item.
This year celebrates the 40th anniversary of Roth’s solo debut. ‘Crazy From The Heat made it into the Billboard Top 15 and achieved RIAA platinum status. The EP also produced hit singles, including a medley of ‘Just a Gigolo/I Ain’t Got Nobody’ and his cover of The Beach Boys’ ‘California Girls.’
Since his Warner years, Roth has not released much new solo material, except for the ‘DLR Band’ album in 1998 and ‘Diamond Dave’ in 2003. However, he has teased new tracks in recent years, including original songs like ‘Pointing at the Moon’ and re-recordings of Van Halen classics such as ‘Panama.’ Roth’s retirement status, however, is still unclear.
